Papiers Découpés by Matisse
What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or disturbing subject matter ... like a comforting influence, a mental balm - something like a good armchair in which one rests from physical fatigue. -Matisse
Jazz, Le Clown, Planche I (Jazz, The Clown, Plate I), 1943
Gouache-painted paper cut-outs .

© Succession H. Matisse

"The 'paper cut out', Matisse explained in 1951, "allows me to draw in colour. It is for me a matter of simplification. Instead of drawing the contour and filling in the colour--one modifying the other--I draw directly into the colour, which is all the more controlled in that it is not transposed."

Using Blogs in Education
" The writing style is often in the first person and informal; resembling natural speech. Students’ thoughts become visible and the student has to find ways of expressing and writing thoughts that are closely connected to their sense of themselves."
